Led behavioural change programmes accompanying new infrastructure in Onehunga, as well as short-term management of the Bike Hubs Network.

  • Developed the Human Infrastructure of Cycling programme for Onehunga, developing initiatives designed to address social, cultural, and individual barriers to cycling across a three-year programme.
  • Oversaw the Bike Hubs programme including a prioritisation of physical works upgrades, contract management, and the delivery of a new site in Maungawhau.

Programme Manager — Bike Hubs

May 2022 – September 2024

Synthesised and delivered the world's first network of free, community-run bike repair shops — growing from four to 14 locations across Auckland on a $2 million budget.

  • Co-designed the Bike Hub operating model with hundreds of stakeholders, from elected members to community and cultural groups.
  • Led procurement, detailed design, landowner consents, construction, and programme integration.
  • The network now reaches 50,000 Aucklanders per year.

Led the delivery of multiple doorstep engagement projects to inform householders about their travel and energy choices on behalf of the local council.

  • Coordinated daily operations across nearly 2,000 households and 17 team members.
  • Researched and developed new projects with an explicit focus on their business case and social impacts.
  • Maintained and improved backend systems for accounting, performance metrics, and database analysis.

Focused on scaling and launching new fundraisers to generate income, while improving back-end systems.

  • Retrofitted, launched and managed a mobile coffee cart as a monthly fundraising opportunity.
  • Doubled the Cans 4 Kai monthly collections from ~800 kg to over 1,500 kg by tightening existing relationships and onboarding new partners.
  • Delivered site enhancements and process improvements including: two new payments and reporting apps, upgrades and maintenance on four trailers, and upgraded project management workflows.

Kai Ika Operations Manager

Managed day to day operations across the Kai Ika Programme, including the filleting station at Westhaven Marina, kaimoana distributions, always-on recycling fundraisers, and weekly competitions and events.

  • Managed daily operations at the Kai Ika Project Filleting Station at Westhaven Marina; processing fish, collecting kaimoana for redistribution, and educating everyday people about our marine systems.
  • Supported the delivery of over 2,500 kg of free fish heads and frames to communities each week via Marae and community partners.
  • Operated Cans 4 Kai, a fundraising initiative collecting and recycling one tonne of aluminium each month.
  • Delivered a series of mobile filleting events and engagement opportunities with key partners and the general public.

  • Led three regional month-long campaigns reaching over 200,000 Aucklanders.

Shadowed the first engineer on all systems: hydraulic furler and windlass rebuilds, generator and main engine servicing, AC/DC rewiring, fresh water replumbing. Repainted aluminium topsides with Awlgrip. Stood watch on overnight deliveries and charter weeks.

Delivered a 35m ex-trawler 700nm around the coast of NZ. Restored yachts from 6–12m: full electrical rewires, diesel engine rebuilds, deck repairs, rig replacement, plumbing, and boat building.
